Peacock bass in Malaysia generally spawns all year round. We don't have specific seasons where our peacock bass will spawn. Though there are some factors that may encourage peacock bass to spawn such as rain. Like largemouth bass, peacock bass spawn in shallow water. Spawning beds generally are in area with hard bottoms, with rocks and wood. The female will lay eggs on the rocks or wood or anything that will absorb heat from the sun. Both female and male will guard the eggs from predators and dirt until the eggs hatched. Like other chiclids, both male and female will guard the fry ball. Peacock bass color will turn bright and colorful when spawning. Male is the easiest to spot since they will have hump on the forehead when spawning.
